Exams aren’t exactly exciting. But when you reimagine them, they can be transformative.

That’s been our focus this winter. Between December and January, the OPTIMISM team launched the design of 60 multiple-choice questions, each rooted in real scenarios and practical decision-making. This isn’t your average quiz. These questions challenge learners to think critically—with multiple answers, including “none of the above,” to reflect real-world complexity.

Meanwhile, scenario-based learning is gaining traction. We’re developing simulator-integrated content that mirrors the dynamic situations seafarers face every day—emergencies, leadership dilemmas, ethical decisions.

The assessment approach follows a competence-based learning model, ensuring participants don’t just memorize, but apply knowledge with confidence and skill. We’re creating more than a test. We’re building a thinking toolkit.
