On a crisp autumn day in the picturesque city of Alingsås, Sweden, the OPTIMISM project embarked on its journey towards revolutionizing safety management in the maritime industry. The kick-off meeting, held on October 13, 2023, at the Grand Hotel Alingsås, brought together passionate individuals from various partner organizations, united by a shared vision of enhancing safety standards through the development of an Online Programme for Training on International Management of ISM.
Ms. Vanessa Makar, exuding warmth and enthusiasm, welcomed all participants to the meeting, setting a tone of collaboration and camaraderie. Mr Amir, C4FF Director, kickstarted the introductions, highlighting the project’s content and requirements, while each participant provided insights into their respective roles, laying the foundation for productive discussions ahead.
Ms Makar took the floor to present a comprehensive overview of the OPTIMISM project, elucidating its objectives and key milestones. With a focus on enhancing safety management systems through innovative training programmes, the project aims to empower maritime professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of international management standards.

With plans already in motion for the next meeting in Barcelona, scheduled for April 18-19, 2023, hosted by UPC, the OPTIMISM project sets sail towards its next chapter of innovation and collaboration.
